ICE COLD
This novel is a private-investigator caper with a cast of wacky Florida characters.
They include a PI with a sense of humor which often gets him into trouble, lawmen who may (or may not) be upholders of the law, and a gaggle of middle-aged housewives who’ve decided to supplement their incomes by cooking up crystal meth (ice) in their kitchens.
Ice Cold was first place winner in the Gulf Coast Novel Contest. Look for it on the shelf in 2010.
THE LAST CHARIOT
An archaeologist discovers a cache of earthen jars in a cave
overlooking the Nile. Inside are scrolls which seem to be from the time of the boy-king Tutankhamun.
He begins to send the translation version each scroll to his young son, Trevor, back in the States, along with a small ankh (the Egyptian sybol of life).
To his amazement, when Trevor holds the ankh while reading a scroll, he is transported back to ancient Egypt and becomes the half-brother, Hapu, of the boy who would be king. Hapu becomes a scribe and creates the scrolls, which he later hides in the cave as a monument to Tut, who died at nineteen, much, much too young.
Moving back and forth from present to past, this is the story of Trevor, Hapu, and most of all, the ultimately tragic life of Tutankhamun.
